Asteroid M

As a fully habitable space station, Asteroid M, also known as the Port of Avalon, serves as the home and headquarters for the Brotherhood of Mutants terrorist organization. It is the collaboration of Brotherhood founder and leader, Magneto, along with several unnamed mutant scientists.

Within the massive satellite superstructure is many levels consisting of hab domes, weapons labs, and recreations commons--everything that would appeal to disgruntled and malcontent mutants. The space station is maintained presumably by the same mutant researchers who helped design and construct it, and as such Asteroid M is a self-contained and self-sustaining environment from which the Brotherhood and its Acolytes are free to come and go as they please.

A colossal project, Asteroid M was nonetheless unknown to the general public until Magneto began giving announcements for his Great Mutant Exodus in 1987, presumably soon after its completion. Untold hundreds or potentially thousands of mutants have already made the pilgrimage. Aside from space agencies of the world's national superpowers and a handful of assorted nongovernmental organizations, Asteroid M remains out of reach for most denizens of Earth.
